Start using bin/cache/engine.{stamp|realm} instead of bin/internal/engine.{realm|version}. (#164352)
Towards https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/164315.

See also:
https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/master/docs/tool/Engine-artifacts.md.

There are more usages in `flutter/flutter`, but some will require more
specialized review (i.e. from release folks, or the Dart SDK team), so
I'll split those off.

~~Requires https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/164317 to merge
first.~~

Move integration_test.FlutterDeviceScreenshotTest to the framework slow shard (#164398)
Closes https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/164177.

[Every](https://logs.chromium.org/logs/flutter/buildbucket/cr-buildbucket/8721680858175088673/+/u/run_test.dart_for_framework_tests_shard_and_subshard_misc/stdout)

is `integration_test.FlutterDeviceScreenshotTest`, which is run using
Gradle, and often takes 5m+. This test is already [close to hitting its
threshold of 30m
consistently](https://ci.chromium.org/ui/p/flutter/builders/luci.flutter.prod/Windows%20framework_tests_misc):

I am proposing moving this test to `Linux framework_tests_slow`, it does
not have a lot of value to run on every platform, and is indeed, slow.

Add empty io.flutter.app.FlutterApplication to give deprecation notice, and un-break projects that have not migrated (#164233)
The removal of the v1 embedding missed that this class was not marked as
deprecated, and did not provide a notice in the breaking changes
section. V1 apps that needed the functionality of the old
`FlutterApplication` were all broken in the previous release, but some
V2 apps have been referencing the v1 `FlutterApplication`.

For these apps, this is the same as extending the base
`android.app.Application`. So we can provide an "empty extension" of
that base class, to provide these v2 apps a deprecation notice, and
avoid breaking them without warning (in 3.29.1).

Arbitrarily chose the `spell_checker` integration test to reference this
empty application, let me know if you think I should bring up an
entirely new devicelab test instead.

This change reverts the following previous change:
The depot_tools Ninja wrapper looks for Ninja at specific paths within
the tree. The use of "name": "." in the engine's .gclient file is not
expected by the depot_tools logic for locating the engine's source
directory.

This PR creates an alternative layout that is supported by depot_tools.
If the project root directory contains a "buildtools" subdirectory, then
depot_tools will look for Ninja at "third_party/ninja" within the root.

Force Impeller backend for android_engine_test, and test both OpenGLES and Vulkan (#162089)
A few changes in this PR (could have been split up, but that would take
an extra 4 hours - 2 days in CI time):

- Removed the old `flutter_driver_android_test` shards and references
- Override `AndroidManifest.xml` per backend, forcing that backend to be
used (no fallbacks) or it fails
- Bumps the Android emulator to 35 due to the use of magic strings, I
think

The check for the Impeller backend actually being used is the honor
system right now, as a bug in `flutter drive`
(https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/162087) prevents me from
seeing error output, meaning that it's impossible to be sure a
particular Impeller backend is used (or understand why a crash happens),
so I guess I'll work on that next.

Due to https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/162088, we were
accidentally running our Vulkan tests as OpenGLES 🤦🏼 .

Add piping and bringup nodes for _vulkan and _opengles suites. (#162020)
Towards https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/161333.

This adds the initial `.ci.yaml` configuration (marked `bringup: true`),
without changing the existing shard to avoid the problems we ran into
last time when I renamed the shard atomically, as well as piping for
providing context in which the test will run (Vulkan or OpenGLES), which
can't be introspected in the _running_ app.

In a follow-up PR I'll:

- Edit `AndroidManifest.xml` before the suite, setting `ImpellerBackend`
appropriately
- Move the bringup nodes to presubmit
- Delete the existing (legacy) node

Refactor android_engine_test, make it easier to debug/deflake locally. (#161534)
The goal here is to have a great standalone `android_engine_test` suite
that [replaces
`scenario_app/android`](https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/160992).

No test is _functionally_ changed in this PR, but overview of changes:
- Finished renaming the suite `android_engine_tests` instead of
`flutter_driver_android`
- Added instructions and an environment variable for local generation of
golden-files (`UPDATE_GOLDENS=1`)
- Added explanations of the individual tests, where they live, and how
to run them locally
- Added a hybrid-composition (HC, not TLHC, which is already tested)
test
- Renamed "other_smiley" to "surface_texture_smiley" (and renamed the
original to "surface_producer_smiley")
- Removed unnecessary ".android" suffix (we will not run this on
anything but Android)
- Added a `tool/deflake.dart` to run a test suite 10x (or custom) times
locally to try and determine flakiness

After this PR, I'll add flags to let you control variants and name the
screenshots accordingly, i.e.:
- API v34 or v35
- OpenGLES or Vulkan (will require an `AndroidManifest.xml` edit during
the test instrumentation)

Extract analyze test expectations from test fixture (#161108)
This allows analyze tests to interpret inline comments in a specific
format as error message expectations.
e.g.,:

Adding `// ERROR: this is bad because A, B, C, D` to line 50 in
`file.ext`

would match an error message that looks like `../path/path/file.ext: 50:
this is bad because A, B, C, D`

Follow-up to https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/160985.

These were missed by `flutter update-packages --force-upgrade` in
https://github.com/flutter/flutter/pull/160985, likely due to some
circular dependency issue. They've been bumped by hand in this PR.

Manual pub bump (#160985)
Since the autoroller is currently disabled (due to
https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/160473) this does a manual
roll of our dependencies to ensure that we don't fall too far behind.

Turn deprecation message analyze tests back on (#160554)
Additionally:
- Deprecation message analyzer: use AST more instead of regex
- Deprecation message analyzer: removes some tests since they are in the
formatter's jurisdiction now
- update the analyzer test fixture to fix a couple line numbers
- `@_debugOnly` set `multiline` back to false. The source we get back
from the `ASTNode` doesn't have any line feed characters.

[web] Make FLUTTER_WEB_AUTO_DETECT false by default (#160191)
Now that "auto" is not supported anymore, it makes more sense to make
this dart define false by default. And there's no need to pass
`FLUTTER_WEB_AUTO_DETECT=false` anymore.

apply dart_style 3.0.1 (#160875)
dart_style 3.0.1 comes with some minor style fixes:
https://github.com/dart-lang/dart_style/blob/main/CHANGELOG.md#301

This PR applies this fixes in bulk across the repository. (Otherwise,
the next person touching these files would have been the one updating
them to the new format by running the formatter).

Remove --template=skeleton and add a placeholder error message instead. (#160695)
Closes https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/160673.

Does the following:

- Renames `FlutterProjectType` to `FlutterTemplateType`; did some
enhanced enum cleanups while at it
- Creates a hierarchy of `RemovedFlutterTemplateType` from
`ParsedFlutterTemplateType`
- Removes the `skeleton` directory
- Merges `app_shared` back into `app` (no longer required now that
`skeleton` is removed)

Final cleanups are tracked in
https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/160692.

(Added @zanderso just to spot check this is what he meant by
https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/160673#issuecomment-2557742347)

Delete unused engine_hash.dart script (and test), simplify engine_hash.sh. (#160549)
Closes https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/160527.

We don't use the Dart script anyway, and the shell script could be
simplified to the single use in g3 (cl/688973229).

Auto-format Framework (#160545)
This auto-formats all *.dart files in the repository outside of the
`engine` subdirectory and enforces that these files stay formatted with
a presubmit check.

**Reviewers:** Please carefully review all the commits except for the
one titled "formatted". The "formatted" commit was auto-generated by
running `dev/tools/format.sh -a -f`. The other commits were hand-crafted
to prepare the repo for the formatting change. I recommend reviewing the
commits one-by-one via the "Commits" tab and avoiding Github's "Files
changed" tab as it will likely slow down your browser because of the
size of this PR.

Add script to check format of changed dart files (#160007)
The script is modeled after a similar script in the engine (see engine's
[format.dart](https://github.com/flutter/engine/blob/main/ci/bin/format.dart)).

It identifies the files that have been changed and checks if their
formatting is correct. It also offers an option to correct formatting
(`--fix`) and an option to check the formatting of all files in the
repro (not just changed ones, `--all-files`).

When we are enforcing dart format this script will be called as part of
presubmit.
